PORTALS
and
the glimpses of the other side
In this body of work, I am focused on the portals—gateways into imagined worlds shaped by wonder, memory, and longing. Inspired by the fantastical realms of childhood stories like Narnia and Peter Pan, I envision these portals as openings into spaces that exist just beyond our everyday perception. I believe our world is filled with magic, but the routines of daily life and the weight of current social and political realities often dull our ability to see it. This series also serves as a personal escape from the weight of it. It allows me to hold on to the belief that childlike imagination and a sense of wonder still have the potential to inspire, change, and envision a better world.
Each image is created using some of the oldest photographic processes: cyanotype and Van Dyke Brown. These printing methods are essential to my artistic voice. Their tactile, hand-crafted nature connects me directly to the history of photography and lets me slow down, reflect, and embrace imperfections. I coat each sheet of paper by hand, expose it to sunlight, and watch the image emerge gradually through water and time. Cyanotype and Van Dyke Brown allows me to engage fully with the process, embracing its unpredictability and physicality. It also offers me creative freedom and a deep sense of connection to the past, while opening new, imaginative possibilities for the present.
